AIABG welcomes Tom Harvey! In 2004 Harvey retired from Assurex Global www.assurexglobal.com, an international firm with more than 500 offices. It is the world's largest privately held risk management, commercial insurance and employee benefits group. During his tenure as CEO annual insurance premium placements grow from $ 5 billion to $ 19 billion and the organization's international presence expanded from less than a dozen to over sixty countries. Harvey also managed two affiliates; a Bermuda based reinsurance company and an investment-banking firm that facilitated management buyouts of fifteen commercial insurance agencies. Prior experience include more than a dozen years as a venture capitalist, supporting nearly two dozen emerging technology based, companies, and six years of sales and marketing responsibilities with XEROX. He has been CEO of five companies, including two start-ups and a joint venture with a Fortune 100 company. He holds a BA from Georgetown University and an MBA from George Washington. Immediately after his BA degree Harvey served two years as an artillery officer in the U.S. Army. Tom Harvey's current focus is advising management on issues such as marketing, sales, executive leadership and raising capital. He has a particular interest in the effective use of advisers and directors. In his career he has served on 14 boards, observing more than 90 fellow directors. He is currently a director of a VC backed Michigan software company and advises three other firms. He is a faculty member at Ohio Dominican and Ohio State universities teaching, marketing, finance and new ventures courses. Harvey occasionally writes for business publications on topics such as health insurance, executive leadership, niche marketing, E-commerce and risk management. 2594
