Ted Ford is President & CEO of TechColumbus, a new organization formed to be a catalyst
for technology-based economic development in Central Ohio. Working closely with the state, cities, higher
education, and technology resources such as Battelle, TechColumbus attempts to drive major initiatives that
can transform the region while also providing services and assistance to help tech-based businesses form
and grow.
Mr. Ford is a seasoned executive with over 25 years of experience in government, marketing, higher education,
and public-private partnerships.
Prior to becoming TechColumbus' first CEO, Mr. Ford served for five years as
President & CEO of Edison Welding Institute, one of the nation's most successful nonprofit engineering
research and development organizations. He has served as a chief university fundraiser, fundraising consultant,
business development professional, public policy advocate, state legislative staffer, and executive assistant to
former Ohio Governor Richard F. Celeste.
TechColumbus provides a full suite of membership programming, business assistance, and other services to tech-based
businesses in Central Ohio. TechColumbus was formed through the merger of the Columbus Technology Council, a
membership organization, and the Business Technology Center, a world-class technology business incubator located in
the OSU Research Park.
Scitech - OSU's research park development affiliate - is included under the TechColumbus
umbrella via a management agreement.
